Description:

We are currently searching for an Intermediate Project Manager in our Calgary office. 

The successful candidate will have experience engaging with clients directly in providing innovative design solutions in the transportation sector. You will lead with a forward-thinking approach that promotes a team environment to improve overall group performance and client service. You will provide technical expertise and project management on transportation projects for public and private sector clients with a focus on highways, roads, and aviation related projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a multi-disciplinary project team to undertake major transportation projects. 
  • Providing a leadership role in the preparation of designs, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents; as well as participating in scheduling, budgeting, tendering, contract administration, and inspection. 
  • Advancing projects through the concept, design, and construction phases; managing existing clients and subconsultants; developing new clients. 
  • Applying Project Management principles to effectively motivate and guide project teams. 
  • Delivering projects on budget and within identified schedules.
  • Acting as the primary contact for all project-related client communications.
  • Monitoring, controlling, and reporting project status internally and externally.
  • Engaging in business development and leading & preparing technical and financial proposals.
  • Mentoring and coaching a team of Engineers and Technologists.

Qualifications:

What you will bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA, or eligible for registration. 
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Civil Engineering for public and private sector clients with a focus on the Transportation sector including 3+ years experience in Project Management.
  • Direct experience with Alberta Transportation or City of Calgary is an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative work environment with your team, as well as other disciplines, groups, and offices.
  • Experience with applicable industry software and project management tools (Microsoft Suite, BlueBeam Revu, Procore, Aconex, Dynamics 365, or similar). 
  • Proven project management and business development experience. 
  • Proven experience managing multi-discipline, medium to large projects ($15-80 million construction costs) through design and construction phases. 
  • Proven proactive approach to delivering projects that anticipates issues to avoid delays or claims and minimizes extra work costs.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills to deliver work within tight deadlines and schedules. 
  • Proven ability to win work and effectively manage consulting scope changes is an asset. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Valid driver’s license.
